SOCIAL INTERACTION AFTER STROKE

 

 

 

FRIDAY 9.30AM -1.30PM

Format: General group - socialising with fun. Gentle exercise to develop mobility, literacy & numeracy skills take place, as do quizzes, card games, puzzles etc.

Aims: To encourage members to integrate socially again and to regain confidence in the company of others.

Referral Criteria: New members are referred from hospital, GP, Stroke Family Support or the community. Assessment of need is carried out by the Stroke Family Support Advisor and/or Stroke Group Co-ordinator. Transport can be arranged with a contribution towards the cost of £3.00 - £3.50 and there is also an attendance fee of £5.00 for the day, including lunch.

Annual membership fee of £5 payable April each year

Training: A Physiotherapist & Occupational therapist attends fortnightly to check for any problems any member may be having e.g. splints etc may be supplied, check made on exercises etc. and any other problems discussed.

Meeting others: This session is an ideal opportunity to meet others socially, to encourage self- confidence and to enjoy some fun at the same time.
